Instructor: Anne Andrle - OneMind Dogs Instructor Entries, exits, channels, 2x2’s, independence, oh my! Anne will review all the training techniques she uses to proof and teach WP’s; these techniques result in confident, independent weaving dogs that don’t require baby sitting! Dogs will not ‘over weave’ in this workshop; it’s not necessary to break the dogs to teach the skills! Suitable for dogs 7 months and older WORKING SPOTS are full. Nosework is fun sport for handlers and dogs alike!! It can also be a great tool for building confidence, focus and the dog-handler bond. Young and old dogs can play, and even dogs that don’t enjoy other sports might find that this is the perfect game for them. In this class, dogs will learn to recognize 3 of the commonly used target odors (birch, anise and clove), and handlers will learn how to read and reward their dogs’ behaviors to build value for the search and “alert”. We’ll also cover the basics of scent theory, hide placement and good handling practices for odor and equipment. Basic materials needed for class will be provided, as well as a list of resources for purchasing additional oils and supplies. WARNING- Nosework is a highly addictive sport… once you (and your dog!!) are hooked, there is NO going back!!
