Whether you’re just getting ready to show in Novice or Rally or are working to keep things fresh for the long haul in Open and Utility, please join us for this fun and active seminar to learn some of the best “tricks of the trade” to keep your dog attentive and energized. RING SMART: Tips, Tricks and Strategies to Enhance Joy and Performance in the Ring As most of us who have shown in obedience know, there’s a huge leap from teaching our dogs the required obedience exercises to successfully showing them! Our dogs may perform the exercises beautifully in training, but can they perform them with enthusiasm and confidence in the often stressful environment of a dog show? In this workshop, we will examine several critical concepts at work in the equation for success and practice important skills that can significantly enhance your dog’s experience at a trial AND improve your performance and scores in the ring. Classical conditioning, ring entrances and set-ups, transitions, reinforcement strategies, and staying connected throughout will all be covered in this active, hands-on workshop. * Please note that there is room for auditors to bring and crate a dog. Non-working dogs must be quiet and settled in the crate area and NOT out during lecture or while dogs are working. |
